Non attendance and late cancellation information

We are committed to delivering exceptional clinical care to all our clients. To support this commitment, we have a cancellation and non-attendance policy. This policy enables us to manage appointments effectively and ensure timely access to care for everyone.

When you book an appointment, we reserve that time exclusively for you. If you miss the appointment, that time cannot be reallocated to another patient in need. Short-notice cancellations or failures to attend leave us unable to fill the slot, which directly affects our ability to compensate staff for their dedicated time and expertise.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What type of injuries can we help?
A. We can help manage a variety of musculoskeletal issues and health conditions. Most often these relate to problems with bones, nerves, joints, muscles, ligaments and soft tissue. A few examples of these include:
• Back and neck pain
• Joint related pain
• Sports injuries
• Injury resulting from accidents
• Muscle and tendon related or injury
• Pre and post operative rehabilitation
• Core rehabilitation
• Anti-natal and post-natal care
• Incontinence

Q. What does the first physiotherapist session involve?
A. Your therapist will start by conducting a comprehensive assessment and physical examination to identify the cause and nature of your condition.

Following this, they will review the findings alongside your medical history and personal goals to determine the most appropriate treatment approach. A personalised treatment plan will then be developed. Hands on treatment may commence during the first session.

Q. Can you have physiotherapy when pregnant?
A. Yes, you are welcome to attend physiotherapy at any stage of your pregnancy, although some treatments may be contraindicated. If your visit is related to a pregnancy-specific concern, please mention this when booking your appointment so we can arrange the appropriate treatment.

Q. What should I wear?
A. To get the most out of your physiotherapy session, it’s important to wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely—sportswear or gym attire is ideal.

Keep in mind that your physiotherapist may need to assess the affected area, so wearing something that can be easily adjusted or removed is helpful. Your therapist will always prioritise your comfort throughout the session.

Q. How long do the appointments last?
A. Your initial appointment will include a comprehensive assessment and will take up to 30 minutes. Follow-up sessions can also last up to 30 minutes or up to an hour pending discussion with the therapist.

Q. Do I need to see my doctor first?
A. If you are self-referring and paying for your treatment independently, there is no need to see your GP beforehand.

Q. Do you work with Health Insurance Companies?
A. We do not work directly with any Insurance Companies, however we provide receipts which can be forwarded to them to reclaim any monies spent. Please contact your Insurance Companies to check if this is acceptable to them.

Q. How soon can I be seen?
A. Appointments are made by phoning the clinic on 0131 629 0215, and you will be given the first available appointment that suits you. We aim to offer an appointment within the next 2 working days, however, this may vary if there is a specific time or therapist you require. If you require something sooner, we do hold a cancellation list and will call if a suitable appointment becomes available.

Q. If I fail to attend my appointment will I be charged?
A. We require at least 24 hours notice for cancellation or rescheduling. However, if you miss your appointment or cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, the full appointment fee will apply.
