More than a booking: The Personal Approach to your care

In a world where we can book almost anything online in just a few clicks, you might wonder why we don’t offer online booking at our physiotherapy clinic.

The simple answer is: because you matter to us, and we believe your care deserves a personal touch.

At a time when healthcare can often feel automated and transactional, we believe your treatment journey should start with a real conversation. Here is why we at Edinburgh Sports Injury Clinic choose to keep human connection at the heart of our practice.

Instead of an online booking system, our reception desk is staffed by our wonderful team, Susan and Kirstie, who are here to answer your calls and emails, listen to what you need and help you find the right appointment at the right time.

They are friendly, welcoming, and highly responsive – and they know just how important it can be to find an appointment that works around your treatment needs, work, family and everyday life. Our reception team are often the first point of contact for patients, and we see that as something really important. Our reception desk is an ESIC touchpoint – a welcoming space where patients, visitors and staff come together. It is much more than simply somewhere to check in or make an appointment.

A Personal Triage for Tailored Care

When you contact us, we can have a conversation rather than simply asking you to select an available box on a screen. That personal conversation allows us to understand what you need and, where appropriate, help guide you towards the most suitable therapist and appointment.

Physiotherapy isn’t like booking a haircut or reserving a restaurant table. Every injury is unique, and what seems like a simple ache might require a specific specialist or a tailored assessment time.

Automated systems can’t ask clarifying questions. When you call us, our welcoming reception team conduct a gentle personal triage. This allows us to:

  • Match you with the right clinician: Ensuring you see the team member best suited to your specific injury or condition.
  • Guide new patients: Removing the guesswork if you aren’t sure what type of appointment or service you need.
  • Coordinate complex care: Seamlessly scheduling follow-ups or multi-practitioner rehab plans.
  • Prioritise urgent cases: Accommodating acute injuries or sudden flare-ups that require immediate attention.

This is particularly important because our clinic diary can fill quickly and is constantly changing. An online booking system may show you a selection of appointment slots, but it can’t always understand why a particular appointment is important to you or what your treatment plan requires. Our team can.

Fitting Treatment Around Your Life

An online calendar only sees open time boxes. It doesn’t understand that a 4:00 pm slot is the only time you can visit around childcare, or that you are travelling from further away.

Because our clinic diary is dynamic and constantly updated, speaking directly to Susan or Kirstie allows us to look at the bigger picture. We can often find flexible solutions, manage waiting lists, or adjust schedules to fit your treatment plan into your everyday life.

Direct communication also helps us reduce missed appointments, keeping our schedule accurate and opening up free slots quickly for patients who need urgent care.

Privacy, Reassurance, and Accessibility

Discussing health, pain, and personal circumstances online can feel impersonal – or uncomfortable. Speaking to a member of our team guarantees immediate confidentiality, discretion, and a supportive ear before you even set foot in the clinic.

We also know that digital forms don’t suit everyone. Whether you prefer to phone, email, or drop in to speak to us in person, we ensure our care is accessible to all.

By providing different routes into the Clinic, we can support patients with different communication preferences and accessibility needs. Sometimes you simply need to speak to someone. Sometimes email is easier.

That’s why we offer several ways to contact us: Telephone or Email or Website enquiry or In person.

Visiting us for the first time?

New patients are welcome. You can always pop into the clinic to say hello, ask questions, or meet the team before booking.  (You might even get to spend a few minutes with Ollie, our clinic therapy dog!). Or call us!

We are open daytime and evenings. Our specialist clinicians are carefully chosen for their expertise in diagnosis and treatment, as well as their personal approach – ensuring you’re in safe, supportive hands throughout. Many of our patients come to us through referrals – a reflection of the high-quality care and results we consistently deliver.

Edinburgh Sports Injury Clinic was born from a passion to offer more than just treatment. With years of experience in private practice and professional sport, June recognised the need for a more comprehensive, patient-focused approach – one that supports not just athletes and active individuals but everyone at every level.

Our team of expert therapists are trusted to help you move more freely and firmly believe recovery should be a shared journey. That’s why we empower our patients with a clear understanding of their injury, what caused it, and how to prevent it from recurring – so you leave not only stronger, but more informed and confident in your own body.

Your Care Comes First

We regularly review how we run our clinic to ensure we are offering the highest standard of service. While online booking offers convenience, we firmly believe that a direct conversation remains the gold standard for your health and peace of mind.

From your very first point of contact, we want you to feel valued, supported, and confident in your care.

Kirstie and Susan are here to help with appointments, questions, changes to bookings and anything else you may need assistance with.

A real person can listen.
A real person can ask the right question.
And a real person can help make sure your appointment is right for you.

You matter to us. That’s why we put your needs first.

So, rather than clicking your way through an online booking system, give us a call or send us an email. We’re always happy to help.
